Maximuss

Maximuss . . . today

Following his United States National Champion Halter victory, Maximuss has been provided with a harem of mares that is nothing short of astonishing. He stands at Midwest in the hands of David Boggs where he shares a stable with his illustrious sire Magnum and the most amazing group of breeding stallions assembled anywhere in the world today.

The Cowdrey's have this to say:

"Our core belief is that the true test of a stallion's merit, no matter how beautiful he may be, is his ability to breed on, to reproduce his own likeness as sire. Maximuss has given us those short beautiful heads, large dark eyes, short *Padron ears and, to us, size is very important, we were grateful that Maximuss consistently produces length of leg and refinement."

For 2007 foals, Maximuss has bred 11 exquisite National Champion Mares that are treasured members of the Southwest family and broodmare band,  including:

The heritage of SX-Sheba, the dam of Maximuss

Through her beautiful sire, SX Padron,  the Saklawi sire line is introduced, bringing yet another infusion of the exotic Arabian type and elegance for which this line is most renowned.

Through his dam, SX Padron carries the blood of *Serafix, one of the greatest sires ever imported to America, brought here by one of the all-time best respected of American breeders, John M. Rogers.

*Serafix, like his distant relative *Padron, began his own dynasty. To the breed, *Serafix brought remarkable substance and athletic ability. A powerful horse of great stature for his time, he was the exact opposite of his cousins, *Raffles and Raseyn, whose exquisite beauty was their hallmark.

Interestingly, one of the great breeding stallions of the late 20th century was a son of *BASK++ out of a daughter of *Serafix. That stallion's name was GG Jabask. The connection herein is that GG Jabask's dam, Jalana, was a full sister to SX Daphne, who was the dam of SX Padron.

SX Daphne and Jalana were out of Ralana, whose sire, Rahajah, was a double Gulastra grandson. Bred by foundation breeder, WR Brown, Gulastra was another of our truly significant early American sires. By the Crabbet Stud's *Astraled, Gulastra was a straight Egyptian stallion of the Mesaoud sire line. His daughters and granddaughters were widely used by such renowned breeders as J. M. Dickensen, the Mekeel Horse Ranch  LaCroixs (Lasma), Howard Marks and Bazy Tankersley.

SX Sheba, the dam of Maximuss, was out of Raffon Fel Fix, a beautiful chestnut daughter of National Champion Halter and English Pleasure Stallion, Raffon. Another of the breed's great mare sires, Raffon represented one of the best loved and most successful of American breeding dynasties. His sire was Lloyd and Evelyn Burton's Gazon, by Daniel C. Gainey's beloved Ferzon, by Harvey Ellis' intensely Skowronek bred, Ferneyn, by Frisco Mari's, important *Raseyn son, Ferseyn.

There is so much of Arabian horse breeding history in this distaff side of Maximuss' pedigree, that it’s difficult to know what to discuss and what to leave on the winds of time. Virtually every one of the important American foundation breeders of the 19th and 20th centuries had a hand in the basis from which this fine young stallion descended.

In the heritage from which Maximuss comes, his is the story of a classic American, in many cases only two generations away from their immigrant ancestors. As such, this stallion is the representative of dreams and plans and hopes fulfilled. In him, as in all the best, the past supports the present and offers all of us. The bright promise of the future.
